1. What we provide
We provide genealogical research services. You are paying for professional research time and expertise applied to your case, and for the written report that results from it. You are not paying for a guaranteed genealogical outcome. Historical records either survive or they do not, and no researcher can create evidence that no longer exists.
2. Scope
The scope of each package is defined on the Services & Pricing page at the time of purchase. Work outside that scope is agreed separately in writing before it begins.
3. Your responsibilities
- Provide accurate information to the best of your knowledge through the intake form
- Tell us if information is uncertain rather than presenting it as fact
- Tell us about research already carried out, by you or by anyone else
- Respond to questions that are needed to continue the work
Research based on information that later proves incorrect may need to be repeated, and repeated work may be chargeable.
4. Delivery times
Stated delivery times are estimates made in good faith. They depend in part on third-party archives, whose processing times we do not control. Where a case is delayed we will tell you and explain why.
5. Results
A negative result - a properly conducted search that finds nothing - is a legitimate research outcome and is delivered as a documented report. It does not constitute failure to perform the service.
6. Payment
All services are paid in advance through Stripe. We do not receive or store your card details.
7. Refunds and cancellation

8. Intellectual property
The report we produce for you is yours to keep, share, publish and pass on. Copyright in documents held by archives remains with those archives, and their own conditions on reproduction continue to apply.
9. Confidentiality
We treat your family information as confidential. We do not publish or share identifiable details about your case without your written permission. See the privacy policy.
