Why it matters for Polish-American research
Many Polish Americans descend from emigrants from the Prussian partition, the Province of Posen. Civil registry offices there kept births, marriages and deaths for everyone in the district, in German, from 1874. The scans are free to view online from the United States.
How to use the new scans
- Confirm the locality from an American record first: a passenger list, a naturalization petition or a church record.
- Find which registry office served that village, then browse its collection on Szukaj w Archiwach.
- Check indexes such as Geneteka, then read the original entry for parents, witnesses and house numbers.

How we can help
When a change opens a new record for your family, we can fold it into a research project: we order or read the record, compare it with your other documents and follow the trail to the parish in Poland. See the research projects for scope and prices.
